Crewe crew stop by to order new kit from Heidelberg at Drupa

Joint managing directors of Crewe Colour Printers Phil Edwards and Simon Hughes signed an order at Drupa for a Versafire CV digital press and an automated Stahlfolder CH 66.

The folder, which will be delivered in August, has been chosen to supplement the work of three more manual Ti52s. The flat pile feeder and quick set up times on the CH 66 will allow the company to mop up all the section work and a diverse range of sheeted jobs.
“It will make life much easier for the three folder operators who will run the machine round the clock over three eight hour shifts,” says Simon Hughes. “The speed of set up and the quality of fold across a range of work is the key to this investment.”

It will process work from a Speedmaster CD 74-5 and the new Versafire CV which is replacing a Linoprint C901. Now Crewe Colour Printers will have the facility to handle the larger six page A4 format and provide coatings on its digital technology.
“We believe these investments will help us to keep our reputation for providing good quality and reliable service to our customers. We like the way Heidelberg looks after us; their service and support is second to none. We would not buy a digital press from any other supplier,” says Phil Edwards.

Crewe Colour Printers, based at a 15,000sq ft factory in Sandbach, is over 40 years old and employs 22 staff. It offers a design to finishing service across a broad range of commercial work, primarily for a north-west customer base.
