Micropress adds Heidelberg folding power

Micropress will secure a 30-40 per cent increase in productivity when its Stahlfolder Ti52 is replaced by the more automated Stahlfolder BH 56 in August.
“The Ti52 has had a testing life and put in a lot of hours at our factory which operates 24 hours a day,” says production director Paul Coby. “We have a mixed portfolio of folders but came down in favour of the BH 56 from Heidelberg because it is very user friendly. The accessibility, interface and quick changeovers make it easy to operate and that is important given the shortage of skilled finishing operators in the UK.”

The £15m turnover business is a regular investor (last year’s £4m spend included an additional Speedmaster XL 106-8-P) and it has enjoyed 10% year on year growth. It handles a broad range of commercial print for agencies, print management companies and a wide range of businesses.
Paul Coby was part of the Micropress team who visited Drupa. “I was very impressed by the underlapping folder (The Stahlfolder TH/KH 82-P) which appears to give a tremendous lift in productivity but without increasing the speed and losing control of the paper. It is certainly a development we would consider in future.”
